Bathroom Planning Is An Important First Step

Have you ever looked at your bathroom and wish it looked a little different, or maybe a little more modern? Maybe you've wanted a larger tub, a larger shower, or maybe you wanted to add more room so that you can have a shower and a tub as two separate components.

When you first start planning to remodel your bathroom, consider your budget, available space, and what you would like as the center piece of the bathroom. Local contractors can take your measurements and ideas and give you a pretty accurate idea of how much your new bathroom will cost so you can budget accordingly. Once the budget is set, planning is complete, and you are ready to get started, you can create the bathroom of your dreams.

Current Space Or Add To It?

When bathroom planning, one of the first things you'll want to decide is how much space you need to do what you want. If you want to install larger bath and shower components, or separate shower and tub components, you may need more room. You can do this by knocking out a wall or doing whatever you have to do. Be sure to figure in the expansion when you're getting bids and planning your budget. The room you have available to expand into is going to be your main concern. If your bathroom is on the outside edge of the house, you should be able to expand into the yard. If you don't have the room you need, you'll probably have to go back to the drawing board with your bathroom planning.

Components

Now that you know what kind of space you have to work with, you're going to want to fill it with the various components, such as sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, and whatever else you want to put in there. At this point, you can also determine the style you want to go with.

Definitely stick with the style you choose. Keep everything looking clean and professional by sticking with one look. Just have fun with it, as bathroom planning is a blast. The best part comes, though, when you're all done and you can finally look at your finished product and know that you planned it all by yourself.

Nowadays, people love home-improvement more than ever before. You see it all over the television. The more elaborate, extreme, and over the top the project is, the better entertainment it makes. Yet the truth of the matter is that these large projects aren't really the hard part. If you have a lot of space to work with, a substantial amount of resources to use, and license to do anything you want, remodeling your home is easy. What is really difficult is working with limited resources and limited room. Working in a small room and trying to do it cheaply, while still creating the best effect for your home, can be one of the toughest things you'll ever have to do.

We recently completed a small bathroom remodeling job in our house. We had been doing house remodeling for quite a long time, and we thought that redesigning the bathroom would be the easy part. You see, we had already finished remodeling the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, and all the rest. We left the bathroom for the very last, because we didn't anticipate it being much of a problem. When we finally got to it, we were surprised by how much was really involved..

Small bathroom remodeling did not look like it would be difficult at first. The problem was, we didn't really anticipate how little space we had to work with. Our house is not very big, but it is very intelligently designed. The layout is excellent, and unnecessary use of space is minimized. Because of this factor, the bathroom is very small and stuck in a corner. There is just enough room for the toilet, the shower, and the sink. Unfortunately, it is all pretty old and falling apart.

When we started the small bathroom remodeling job, we wanted to do more than just replace the old fixtures with new ones. We wanted more room for the shower, an extra bathroom cabinet, and a magazine rack beside the toilet. The problem is that we just did not have this option with small bathroom remodeling. We had to keep scaling the project back and scaling back some more. Finally, by knocking out a wall and extending the bathroom a few feet, we were able to fit in everything that we wanted. Still, it was no easy task. Compared to the rest of the house, as a matter of fact, it was pretty tough.
