Small Bathroom Remodeling

Nowadays, people love home-improvement more than ever before. You see it all over the television. The more elaborate, extreme, and over the top the project is, the better entertainment it makes. Yet the truth of the matter is that these large projects aren't really the hard part. If you have a lot of space to work with, a substantial amount of resources to use, and license to do anything you want, remodeling your home is easy. What is really difficult is working with limited resources and limited room. Working in a small room and trying to do it cheaply, while still creating the best effect for your home, can be one of the toughest things you'll ever have to do.

We recently completed a small bathroom remodeling job in our house. We had been doing house remodeling for quite a long time, and we thought that redesigning the bathroom would be the easy part. You see, we had already finished remodeling the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, and all the rest. We left the bathroom for the very last, because we didn't anticipate it being much of a problem. When we finally got to it, we were surprised by how much was really involved..

Small bathroom remodeling did not look like it would be difficult at first. The problem was, we didn't really anticipate how little space we had to work with. Our house is not very big, but it is very intelligently designed. The layout is excellent, and unnecessary use of space is minimized. Because of this factor, the bathroom is very small and stuck in a corner. There is just enough room for the toilet, the shower, and the sink. Unfortunately, it is all pretty old and falling apart.

When we started the small bathroom remodeling job, we wanted to do more than just replace the old fixtures with new ones. We wanted more room for the shower, an extra bathroom cabinet, and a magazine rack beside the toilet. The problem is that we just did not have this option with small bathroom remodeling. We had to keep scaling the project back and scaling back some more. Finally, by knocking out a wall and extending the bathroom a few feet, we were able to fit in everything that we wanted. Still, it was no easy task. Compared to the rest of the house, as a matter of fact, it was pretty tough.

One of the coolest ways to refinish your basement is with Irish pub interior decor. Obviously this is an adult theme and not one that is appropriate if you plan to have your basement used by young children. But if you are looking to do something different and make your basement a great spot for you and your adult friends to relax in, then an Irish pub interior decor may be the way to go.

Choosing a them for your Irish Pub Interior Decor

First things first you need to select an overall them for your basements decor. For an Irish pub interior decor, there are three types that you can choose from. The first is to go with a village and town pub feel for your basement. This theme features painted stucco interior walls, a stucco fireplace with both seating and decor that is casual. You can get furniture that is non specific to your Irish pub interior decor, preferably something that is comfortable for you and your friends.

This is the lowest budget option of the three presented in this article. In addition it is the least radical as you should attempt to incorporate your existing decor with the Irish pub interior decor to create a true village and town pub feel to your basement. You may or may not want to consider a dart board depending on the amount of space you have available. Go to local stores to see if you can find Irish style posters and paintings to hang around the bar area. The overall look should be one of Irish country.

The next style you may want to try is to turn your basement into a city pub. This style is slightly more upscale then the village look and probably will cost you more money. The first step in making this style look authentic is to get a really nice bar. In addition to the actual bar, the area behind the bar needs to be set up in an authentic Irish style with dark colors and mirrors. The interior walls can be covered in a faux stone or slate to give a truly Irish city feel to your bar. This Irish pub interior decor will be much more difficult to implement but does offer a lot more authentic feel.

The third and final style is to set up your downstairs Irish bar as an Irish castle. In addition to all the authentic decor of the Irish city style bar, a castle style bar should add even more authentic Irish pub interior decor. Crests, family seals, wooden and steel swords and armor and perhaps a stone or wood carved dragon would no be considered over the top. Again, a nice large bar area and stone walls with a large stone fireplace would be the perfect accompaniment to the Irish Castle decor. Whichever style you choose, be sure to stay within your budget and make sure it fits with your homes overall look and feel.

An old Japanese saying says that there can not be peace when there is clutter, so remember in all things to keep it as simple as possible. Have one object that is the center of each room, build around that object and keep everything else simple and in balance.

Try different colors and different materials together and see what the results are. Do not be afraid to mix and match as you may be surprised with the results. Also, do not expect a room to come together overnight as many truly great home decor in a Japanese style take many years to develop, so be patient.
